Project Description

Sunrise Way

Sunrise Way Rehab is a community based, non-denominational, independent, not-for-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation service in Toowoomba.

The goal of the Sunrise Way residential programme is to enable clients to understand their addiction, manage their mental health, develop skills and strategies to maintain sobriety and rebuild their lives.

Sunrise Way Rehab was originally established by the Toowoomba community in 2001, in response to the closure of the Toowoomba Base Hospital’s withdrawal and rehabilitation unit. In 2002, the building and land on Tourist Road at the top of the Range was gifted to Sunrise Way by the Queensland Government on a peppercorn lease. 12 years of community volunteering and fundraising then ensued to renovate the site and prepare the facilities for clients.

Kofi Foundation’s support came at a crucial time for Sunrise Way, and enabled the organisation to get up and running and start taking clients. The three year commitment from 2014-17 provided the dedicated team at Sunrise Way with enough time to establish the program, build relationships, and eventually secure State and Federal Government funding to cover the majority of operating costs.

Most importantly, Sunrise Way is now saving lives.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Whilst the majority of operating funding is now covered, Sunrise Way still requires ongoing support to ‘bridge the gap’ and ensure the best possible opportunities to clients. If you would like to support Sunrise Way, please send us an email – we’d be happy to make an introduction!
