The Kofi Foundation is a family-run Private Ancillary Fund. Established in 2014, we are dedicated to quietly helping not-for-profits that do amazing work in areas that we are passionate about.
We do this in a number of ways:
- We make donations to causes and charities that family members advocate for.
- We run an annual grants program in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).
- We participate in impact investing opportunities.
As well as financial support, Kofi looks to provide not-for-profit partners with other kinds of assistance, drawing on the unique skills and expertise of the family. To date this has included assistance with business strategy and advice, design, websites, photography, donation of items to be raffled, and introductions to other individuals and organisations that may be able to provide support.
A number of the projects and causes the family has chosen to support over time are based in regional and rural areas. This reflects the family’s rural roots and their affinity for the land and the challenges it can bring.
Why the name Kofi?
Kofi is the name of the African boy the family sponsored through World Vision in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s. It was one of the first philanthropic activities they undertook as a family, and is therefore a fitting inspiration for their family foundation’s name.
The umbrella in the Kofi Foundation logo was inspired by a drawing Kofi once sent the family in a Christmas card (pictured above).
